THE STAR 09-Dec-09 : Malaysia's first-ever night marathon in February

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will, for the first time, hold a night marathon in Putrajaya on Feb 6.

Federal Territory Amateur Athletic Association (FTAAA) secretary S. Vegiyathuman said the marathon would be held at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya from 8pm.

“The run is designed to benefit Malaysian runners. Athletes will enjoy running at night as the weather is cooler,” he said, adding that a total prize money of RM300,000 will be up for grabs.

“The marathon is open to foreigners but the first 20 Malaysians in the full marathon will get cash rewards.

“The half-marathon is open to all Malaysians and athletes from South-east Asia.”

There will also be the 7km and 5km fun runs.

Entry forms will be available at the FTAAA office from tomorrow.
